Refund Policy

Returns and refunds are handled with a minimum of ceremony. The rules below apply to each item category. Where something has gone wrong on our end, we will make it right.


1. Books — Standard Return Window

Books may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date provided they are in original, unread condition — no markings, no cracked spines, dustjackets intact where applicable, and all original inserts present. We ask that you return the book in appropriate packaging to prevent transit damage.

To initiate a return, write to curator@thebespokebibliophile.com with your order number and the reason for return. Do not mail items back without receiving a return confirmation; unsolicited returns may be declined and returned to sender at your expense.

Return shipping costs: For returns due to buyer preference (change of mind, ordered the wrong title), return postage is the customer's responsibility. For items that arrived damaged, defective, or that are materially different from what was described, we will provide a prepaid return label or arrange an alternative remedy.


2. Refund Method and Timing

Refunds are issued to the original payment method only. We do not substitute store credit for a required cash refund.

Once we receive and inspect your return, we will process the refund within 5–7 business days. Your card issuer or payment processor may require an additional 2–5 business days to post the credit to your account. For cancellations of orders that have not yet shipped, refunds are processed within 7 working days of the cancellation, consistent with the FTC Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 435).

There is no restocking fee.


3. Shipping Charges

Original shipping charges are refunded when the item was damaged, defective, or incorrect. For returns due to buyer preference, original shipping charges are not refunded.


4. Service Cancellations and Geographic Restrictions

If your order is cancelled because we are unable to ship to your address due to regional service limitations, you will receive a full refund — including any original shipping charges — within 7 working days of cancellation. No restocking fee or service charge applies to these cancellations.


5. Bindery (Print-on-Demand Journals) — Final Sale

Bindery journals are produced to order and are not eligible for return or refund based on buyer preference once production has begun. Please review all product details carefully before ordering.

Exception — manufacturing defects: If your journal arrives with a production defect, misprint, or error attributable to the printing process — including pages out of order, significant ink defects, or binding failures — you are entitled to a replacement or full refund. To request a remedy:

  1. Write to curator@thebespokebibliophile.com within 30 days of delivery.
  2. Include your order number and a photograph clearly showing the defect.
  3. We will respond within 2 business days and arrange a replacement or refund.

Dissatisfaction with print quality that falls within normal production tolerances, content errors originating with the publisher or creator rather than the printing process, and orders placed in error by the customer are not eligible for refund under this exception.


6. Curiosity Cabinet Items (Dropshipped)

Curiosity Cabinet items fulfilled by third-party vendors may have different return procedures from books. In all cases, initiate your return by writing to curator@thebespokebibliophile.com with your order number. We will provide the appropriate return address and instructions — which may differ from any address associated with The Bespoke Bibliophile — and will coordinate the return with the vendor on your behalf.

For items that arrive damaged or defective, or where the wrong item was shipped, we will arrange a remedy at no additional cost to you, including any return shipping if required. Vendor-imposed restocking fees, if any, will be disclosed before you are asked to proceed with a return.

Items shipped from vendor warehouses outside the United States may have longer return transit times; we will communicate realistic timelines.


7. Non-Returnable Items

The following are not eligible for return under any circumstance:

  • Books that have been read, marked, or otherwise used
  • Items returned after the applicable window without prior authorization
  • Downloadable or digital content (if offered)
